Royal Oak vs my friend's genuine - side by side

My friend has a genuine Royal Oak. We did a side by side comparison last weekend. The case dimensions are identical. The weight is the same. The bracelet feel is nearly identical. The dial is where it gets interesting. Under a loupe, the genuine has slightly more refined finishing on the tapisserie pattern. But at arm's length, you can't tell. The movement is the only real difference. The genuine has that smooth AP sweep. The clone is close, but not identical. For the price difference, I'm happy with my choice. My friend was impressed too.

The key is the movement. Ask for a timegrapher reading before you buy.

College student here too. This is exactly what I needed to read. Saving up now.

Reading this while saving up for my first one. Posts like this keep me motivated.

Nice! What strap are you running on it? I find the bracelet a bit heavy for summer.

I usually only buy vintage, but you make a compelling case. The value equation is hard to argue with.

The fluted bezel on the Datejust is what got me. It catches light like nothing else.

What was the beat error on yours? Mine came in at 0.2ms which I thought was excellent for this price point.
